Local internet service provider Tasman Solutions last week celebrated its seventh birthday, a proud achievement in the competitive business of supplying reliable access to the internet.
Customers old and new enjoyed the hospitality on offer, and took the opportunity to view the development of communication and computing technology through the years, with the specially built 'Techie Tunnel'. From the early winding handle telephones, Commodore computers, early laptop computers, to the latest generation of wireless broadband equipment, and finally to their server room. An air conditioned room where modems and switches capable of handling thousands of simultaneous calls, connected between an array of computer servers and the fat pipes of the largest interconnecting network of data wires on the planet, the internet.
